Manchester United icon Cristiano Ronaldo has finally lifted his first trophy since joining Al-Nassr, marking a major milestone in his stint with the Saudi club.
Ronaldo, who previously clinched the UEFA Champions League and three Premier League titles during his illustrious years at Old Trafford, has now added another league triumph to his remarkable career.
The 41-year-old forward featured in over 300 matches for Manchester United and famously won the Ballon d’Or in 2008. His much-celebrated return to the club in 2021 did not yield the results fans had hoped for, leading to his move to Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia in 2022.
Since arriving in Saudi Arabia, Ronaldo has enjoyed tremendous individual success, scoring 129 goals in 148 appearances for Al-Nassr. However, despite his prolific form, the team had been unable to secure a major title — until now.
That changed last night when Ronaldo and his teammates were crowned Saudi Pro League champions following a commanding 4-1 victory over Damac. Ronaldo played a pivotal role, netting twice to seal the title for Al-Nassr.
One of his goals came from a trademark free kick taken from a tight angle, evoking memories of his spectacular strikes at Old Trafford. In addition to his two goals, Ronaldo registered five shots and one key pass during the match.
With this triumph, Ronaldo’s glittering career trophy cabinet now includes “three Premier League titles with Manchester United, two La Liga titles with Real Madrid, two Serie A titles with Juventus, and now the Saudi Pro League with Al-Nassr.” The win also ends a five-year stretch without lifting a major league trophy.
Following the final whistle, Ronaldo celebrated with his jubilant teammates, sharing a video of the trophy presentation to mark the occasion. The Portuguese legend accompanied the post with the message, “It means so much to us.”
This victory is seen as further validation of Ronaldo’s decision to continue his career in the Middle East, reaffirming his enduring impact on the global football stage.
Looking ahead, Ronaldo’s focus now turns to the upcoming World Cup — his sixth appearance in the tournament. He will aim to lead Portugal to their first-ever World Cup triumph when the tournament takes place in North America.
Ronaldo concludes the season on a high note, finishing with an impressive tally of 30 goals in 37 matches for the newly crowned Saudi champions.
