JEE Advanced 2026: A major update has emerged for the lakhs of students who appeared for the JEE Advanced examination. IIT Roorkee has released the recorded responses for the exam. Students can now review the answers they submitted to gauge their performance in the examination. Notably, this time, the recorded responses have been sent directly to the students' registered email IDs. This year, the JEE Advanced examination was conducted on May 17, 2026. The exam was held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode, and lakhs of students from across the country participated in it. IIT Roorkee had previously announced that the recorded responses would be released on May 21 at 5:00 PM; however, following the completion of technical processing, they were subsequently sent to the students.

What is a Recorded Response Sheet?
A recorded response sheet is a detailed record that allows students to view the answers they provided during the examination. This enables candidates to identify exactly which questions they attempted and what answers they submitted for each.

Students can now cross-check these responses against the official question paper and the probable answer keys released by various coaching institutes. This allows them to estimate their probable score even before the official results are declared.

Responses Sent to Students via Email
This time, the recorded responses have been sent directly to the registered email IDs. Students are advised to check both their email inbox and their spam folder. If any student has not received the email or is facing difficulties in downloading the file, they may contact IIT Roorkee for assistance.

Information is also available on the Website

Although the recorded responses were primarily sent via email this time, they may also be made available on the official website. To download them from the website, students will be required to enter their application number, mobile number, and date of birth. It has been reported that last year, many students faced difficulties in downloading their recorded responses from the website. For this reason, the decision was made to send them via email first this time around. Provisional Answer Key to be Released on May 25

IIT Roorkee will now release the provisional answer key for JEE Advanced on May 25, 2026. Following this, students will be allowed to raise objections. If a student has doubts regarding any specific question or answer, they may submit their objection within the stipulated timeframe. These objections will be reviewed by subject matter experts.

When Will the Final Answer Key and Results Be Released?
IIT Roorkee will release the final answer key after adjudicating the objections submitted by students. According to reports, the final answer key is scheduled to be released on June 2, 2026. Based on this, the results for JEE Advanced 2026 will be declared on June 1. Once the results are published, successful candidates will be eligible to participate in the next stage of the IIT admission process: JoSAA counseling.

How Many Students Appeared for the Exam This Year?
According to available data, over 1.80 lakh students registered for JEE Advanced 2026 this year. It is estimated that approximately 1.75 lakh candidates actually appeared for the examination. JEE Advanced is widely regarded as one of the most challenging examinations in the world and is considered the most critical test for students aspiring to secure admission to the IITs.

IIT Roorkee Has Already Released the Question Papers
IIT Roorkee released the question papers on its official website immediately after the conclusion of the examination—specifically, on May 17. Subsequently, several leading coaching institutes across the country released solutions to these question papers, prepared by their respective subject matter experts. Students can now analyze their correct and incorrect responses by cross-referencing their recorded responses with the question papers and expert-provided solutions. Experts note that, typically, there are no significant discrepancies between the provisional and final answer keys; therefore, students can begin estimating their probable scores and ranks at this stage.
