On-loan Barcelona forward Ansu Fati is reportedly holding on to the hope of earning a place in Hansi Flick’s squad for the upcoming season.
This development comes amid reports suggesting that the Spanish winger is hesitating to finalise a permanent transfer to AS Monaco.
Fati has enjoyed something of a revival during his stint in France. After joining Monaco on loan, the 23-year-old featured in 30 matches across all competitions.
Despite starting more than half of those games as a substitute, he managed to score an impressive 12 goals during the campaign.
It is understood that Monaco’s management are keen to secure the former wonderkid on a permanent deal ahead of the 2026/27 season.
However, as mentioned earlier, Ansu himself has yet to make a definitive decision on the matter.
According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, “The academy graduate, who remains under contract with Barça until 2028, has not yet given his final consent and continues to be viewed as a potential option to strengthen the Barcelona squad.”
While Fati is content with his current life in Monaco, he still believes he has unfinished business at Barcelona and hopes to play a meaningful part in the club’s future under Flick.
Barcelona, who have yet to reach a conclusion on Marcus Rashford’s situation, have also not initiated contact with Fati regarding his next move.
