Cristiano Ronaldo’s long wait for silverware has finally come to an end as Al-Nassr captured the 2025-26 Saudi Pro League title with a commanding 4-1 win over Damac on Thursday night. Former Liverpool star Sadio Mane and ex-Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman gave Al-Nassr early control before Ronaldo’s remarkable brace sealed the triumph for Jorge Jesus’ team. The result ensured Al-Nassr finished two points clear of fierce rivals Al-Hilal at the top of the standings.

Ronaldo’s decisive double on final day

Although Al-Nassr were not at their fluent best in the season finale, Mane’s powerful header in the 35th minute put them ahead before the break. Early in the second half, Coman extended the lead after a clever one-two on the edge of the box, firing a precise shot into the far corner.

Damac briefly threatened a comeback when Morlaye Sylla converted a penalty, but Ronaldo ensured the night belonged to him. The 41-year-old superstar curled in a low free-kick from a narrow angle on the left that somehow found its way into the net, triggering ecstatic celebrations among home supporters. He later added a second goal with a fierce strike from close range to wrap up a 4-1 victory, rendering Al-Hilal’s 1-0 win against Al-Fayha irrelevant.

Al-Nassr recover from heartbreak

Al-Nassr entered the match under immense pressure, knowing only a win would secure the title after their recent 1-0 defeat to Gamba Osaka in the AFC Champions League 2 final. Despite that setback, Ronaldo and his teammates held their composure to clinch the league crown — their first since 2019 — and deliver a fitting response to their critics.

Ronaldo ends five-year wait for major trophy

This triumph marks Ronaldo’s first official trophy in Saudi Arabia since joining Al-Nassr in January 2023. While he had previously lifted the Arab Club Champions Cup, that competition is not recognized as a major domestic title. His last significant club honour came with Juventus, when he won the Coppa Italia in 2021, meaning this victory ends a five-year gap without a major championship.

What lies ahead for Ronaldo

After netting 28 goals in the league this season, Ronaldo will now turn his attention to international duty. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner is part of Portugal’s squad for the 2026 World Cup in North America, as he continues his quest for the one major title missing from his illustrious career. Roberto Martinez’s team begin their group stage campaign against DR Congo on June 17, followed by matches against Uzbekistan and Colombia.
