New Delhi. Yogi Adityanath government has decided to increase the Dearness Allowance (DA) received by UP government employees by 2 percent. DA of state employees has increased from 58 percent to 60 percent. An official order regarding increasing the DA of the employees has also been issued by Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Finance, Deepak Kumar. Apart from this decision of Yogi government, about 16 lakh government officers, employees, teachers of the state and lakhs of pensioners will also benefit. Earlier, the Central Government had increased the DA of central employees.
Yogi government has clarified that the increased DA of employees will be considered effective from January 1, 2026. From May 2026, cash payment of 60 percent DA will be directly added to the salary. Since the salary of May will be deposited in the account in June, hence the increased DA will start getting in the account of the employees from the month of June. Whereas the arrears of the last four months from January 2026 to April 2026 will be deposited in the General Provident Fund (GPF) account of the employees. For employees who do not have a GPF account, their arrears will be deposited in the form of NPS/PPF or National Savings Certificate (NSC). Similarly, pensioners will also be given increased DA in their monthly pension, which will also increase their monthly income. Although the decision to increase DA will increase the burden on the government treasury, people will get relief from it by increasing the allowance.
How much will the salary increase?
Suppose if someone is getting a salary of Rs 50,000 per month and now after increasing DA by 2 percent, his salary will increase by Rs 1000 per month. In this way, the salary of an employee with a monthly salary of Rs 50,000 has increased by Rs 12,000 annually. Similarly, the salary of officers whose basic salary is Rs 1 lakh will increase by Rs 2,000 per month.
