PM Modi received UN’s most special agricultural honor in Italy, said – this is the victory of India’s farmers

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was honored with the prestigious ‘Agricola Medal’ by the United Nations agency Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome, the capital of Italy. This honor is being considered as a big recognition at the global level for India’s contribution in the field of agriculture, food security and rural development. This medal was given to Prime Minister Modi by FAO Director General Qu Dongyu in a special ceremony.

After receiving the award, Prime Minister Modi dedicated it to the farmers of the country and said that it is an honor to the hard work of India’s farmers, animal husbandry, people associated with fisheries, agricultural scientists and innovators. Union Home Minister Amit Shah called it global acceptance of agricultural reforms and efforts made in the interest of farmers.

PM Modi received honor at FAO headquarters

Agricola Medal was awarded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a ceremony organized at the FAO headquarters in Rome. This award is given to distinguished individuals who have made extraordinary contributions in the field of food security, better nutrition and agricultural development. Posting on X, Prime Minister Modi said, I accepted the Agricola Medal of FAO with utmost humility in a ceremony organized at the FAO Headquarters. I am grateful to FAO. I dedicate this honor to the farmers of India, our food providers.

He further said, this is a recognition of the hard work of our farmers, people associated with animal husbandry and fisheries, our agricultural scientists and innovators. It is also an acknowledgment of India’s unwavering commitment towards human welfare, food security and sustainable development.

 

Amit Shah congratulated

Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated Prime Minister Modi for this honour. He said that this honor is a global recognition of the Prime Minister’s commitment to agricultural reforms, food security and giving priority to the interests of farmers in every situation.

Meloni’s statement on India-Italy relations

Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni expressed happiness over the strengthening relations between India and Italy. In the joint press conference with PM Modi, he said in Hindi, hard work is the key to success. Meloni said that relations between India and Italy have now entered a historic phase. He described PM Modi’s visit as a decisive moment for the relations between the two countries.

It is often used as a popular saying that hard work is the key to success. He further said, we are used to building our relationships in this way – with hard work, which ultimately translates into success. Meloni also said that this is the first bilateral visit to Italy by an Indian Prime Minister in more than two decades, which has given new momentum to the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

India and Italy will work together in defense sector

Amidst geopolitical challenges, India and Italy have given their relationship the status of a special strategic partnership. Both countries finalized the defense industrial roadmap, under which co-development and co-production of military equipment including helicopters and naval weapons will be carried out. Prime Minister Modi and Meloni expressed concern over the situation in West Asia and stressed on finding solutions through dialogue and diplomacy. Both leaders also appealed to restore freedom of navigation in the Hormuz area.

10 agreements signed

10 MoUs were signed between India and Italy to increase cooperation in many important areas. These include agreements to important minerals, agriculture, maritime transport and marine products. Apart from this, both the countries also finalized a new framework for higher education in Italy and movement of Indian nurses.

PM Modi also met President Sergio Mattarella

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Italian President Sergio Mattarella and discussed increasing cooperation in areas like trade, investment, technology, AI, space, critical minerals and nuclear energy. During this, Prime Minister Modi also invited the Italian President to visit India.

Glimpse of Kashi seen in Rome

Prime Minister Modi also mentioned his meeting with Italian painter Giampaolo Tomasetti. He said, a glimpse of Kashi in Rome! Italian painter Giampaolo Tomasetti presented his artwork to Varanasi. The Prime Minister said that Tomasetti has been associated with Indian culture for the last four decades. He has worked on many paintings to Vedic culture and Mahabharata. PM Modi also said that Indian music is becoming increasingly popular in Italy.
