EXPLAINED: Why Angkrish Raghuvanshi Might Miss KKR’s Must-Win Match Vs Delhi Capitals

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won their sixth match of the IPL 2026, when they defeated Mumbai Indians (MI), to keep their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs intact and hanging by a thread.

However, this victory, came without the presence of one of their star performer Angkrish Raghuvanshi. Angkrish was taken off the field in the first innings itself, and he did not appear for the rest of the match. The real trouble for KKR will come in their next match, with a real danger looming over the availability of Raguvanshi. Angkrish Raghuvanshi was subbed off for a concussion substitute (Tejasvi Dahiya) in the match against Mumbai Indians. This was after he collided with Varun Chakaravarthy while attempting a catch vs MI. According to the latest ICC ruling, a player that has suffered a concussion during a match would have to endure a cooling off period of 7 days. If this ICC rule is followed, then Raghuvanshi will not be able to play KKR's next match on March 24 (Sunday) against Delhi Capitals, which is only four days since te concussion happened, three days lesser than the cooling off period.

How KKR Can Still Squalify For IPL 2026 Playoffs

currently have 13 points from 13 games, with 6 wins, 6 losses and one no result. The only hope for them to quaify is if they win their next match against DC. This will get them to 15 points. However, before this, they would hope for Punjab Kings (PBKS) to lose their final league game to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). They would also definitely hope that Rajasthan Royals (RR) lose to MI in their final game, because RR's win would take them to 16 points andhelp them qualify for the playoffs directly. Even if PBKS win vs LSG, KKR would hope that they can get their Net Run Rate above PBKS, so that they could finish above them.
