Meta has laid off 8,000 workers in one fell swoop. That is, about 10 percent of the total workers have lost their jobs. Mark Zuckerberg’s company has already been in controversy. Controversy also started to rise around the company’s last email to the laid-off employees! It reads, ‘If you are in the office right now, take personal equipment and head home.’ There has been an uproar over such ‘offensive’ mails. Although most of the workers were working from home, there has been strong criticism as to why such a statement was written.

This mail reaches the workers by four in the morning! It was made clear, ‘Unfortunately your role is no longer necessary to rebuild the organization.’ Although the entire mail had an impersonal feel, the practical side was evident. One of the world’s largest technology companies is currently busy completing the organizational restructuring process.
It is known that until now the total number of employees of Meta was 78 thousand. At first they were told to work from home. Then in the morning that cut mail! Which is sent from Singapore office. It does not end here. Thousands more workers are being relocated. Janel Gale, an executive of the company, says that a new AI-based team is being created instead of those 7,000 workers. About 6,000 vacancies have been completely closed.

However, the workers had already got the indication that such a move was going to happen. Because, the organization was emphasizing more on AI. The retrenchment list was also prepared earlier. It is believed that the mail has been sent with instructions to work from home so that there is no commotion in the office. Engineering and product teams are expected to suffer the most. More layoffs are expected by the end of the year. Note that Meta has previously stated that they plan to spend $125-145 billion this year, but most of that is on artificial intelligence. As a result, there will be no surprise if there are more layoffs in the future.
