New Delhi: PlayStation Plus has become costlier in India, and the new monthly prices are now showing a clear jump across all three tiers. For players who use PS Plus to play online multiplayer on PlayStation, this means a higher monthly and yearly gaming bill from now on.

As of May 21, 2026, the price hike covers PS Plus Essential, Extra and Deluxe in India. Subscribers have reportedly received official email notifications about the change, with Sony citing “ongoing market conditions” as the reason for the wider price revision in select markets.

PlayStation Plus India price hike: What has changed?

The monthly PS Plus Essential plan, which earlier cost ₹499, has now gone up to ₹649. That is a ₹150 increase. For many players, this is the basic plan they need to play games like EA FC, GTA Online, Call of Duty and other online titles.

The PS Plus Extra monthly plan has moved from ₹749 to ₹979, making it ₹230 costlier. The Deluxe plan, which earlier stood at ₹849 per month, now costs ₹1,109.

Here is the new monthly pricing:

Essential₹499₹649₹150
Extra₹749₹979₹230
Deluxe₹849₹1,109₹260

I mean, for regular console players, this is the kind of small subscription jump that suddenly feels big when you add internet cost, game purchases and that one extra controller nobody planned for.

Why Sony raised PS Plus prices

Sony had earlier announced a PlayStation Plus price hike for select markets, including the US, UK and Europe. India was not mentioned at first, but the revised prices have now appeared here too after May 20.

The company has blamed “ongoing market conditions” for the increase. Sony used the same reason for recent pricing changes linked to PlayStation hardware and services.

In the US, the Essential monthly plan is rising from $9.99 to $10.99, which is around ₹899 to ₹989 at ₹90 per US dollar. For UK users, the revised monthly Essential price starts at £7.99, according to the given context.

What this means for Indian PlayStation gamers

The biggest hit will be felt by players who pay monthly instead of buying an annual plan. The Essential tier is still the entry point for online gaming, so this hike affects casual and regular players alike.

Existing subscribers in most regions are expected to continue on the old price till their plan expires, lapses, or is changed through an upgrade or downgrade. New subscribers will have to pay the revised price.
