South Korea visit: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh reached Seoul, special discussion on bilateral relations

Delhi. India and South Korea have committed to further strengthen the Special Strategic Partnership by enhancing cooperation in the fields of regional peace, stability and technology. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, who reached South Korea’s capital Seoul on Tuesday in the second phase of the visit between the two countries, said this after a meeting with the Defense Minister of South Korea. He said that his meeting with the Defense Minister of South Korea was extremely successful and during which both the countries signed agreements on cooperation in defence, cyber cooperation and other areas.

After the meeting, Rajnath Singh said in a post on social media on Wednesday, “I had an excellent meeting with my South Korean counterpart Ahn Gyu Bak in Seoul. We discussed ways to further deepen India-ROK defence, defense industry and strategic cooperation with a shared commitment to regional peace, stability and technological cooperation.”

He said that it was a very successful meeting as India and Korea exchanged agreements on promoting defense cyber cooperation, between the National Defense College of India and the Korea National Defense University of the Republic of Korea, and on UN peacekeeping cooperation, making our partnership stronger and more multifaceted. The Defense Minister said that the special strategic partnership between the two countries is expected to move towards further strengthening. Rajnath Singh also offered floral tributes at the cenotaph of brave soldiers in Korea.

He said, “Layed a wreath at the National Memorial of Korea and paid tribute to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of their nation. Their courage, dedication and spirit of patriotism will always remain a source of inspiration. India stands in solidarity with the Republic of Korea in honoring the legacy of its heroes.” Earlier on reaching Seoul, Mr Singh had said that the purpose of his visit was to further strengthen India-Korea defense cooperation and strategic partnership.
