Manish Pandey wins for Kolkata Knight Riders defeating Mumbai Indians by 4 wickets at home
Cricket Gully | May 21, 2026 4:39 AM CST

The Punjab Kings may be thinking about the irony at this point! From trolling to giving a point for free to Kolkata Knight Riders to having the same points under their name, time humbles everyone. The game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians went past midnight despite a low-scoring game in Kolkata.

One hour was wasted in the middle due to the rain. At some point it felt that MI may get back to momentum, but it didn't happen. Corbin Bosch and Deepak Chahar gave some hope, putting 147 runs on the board.

But again, fielding again put them down. Rovman Powell, one of the men behind the win, was dropped twice, both in brain-fade moments. And then came Manish Pandey, who was sent ahead of Cam Green, and proved his point—Manish Pandey is alive! He can score runs too and not just take framable catches.

Rinku Singh, alongside Anukul Roy completed the chase. KKR has to think about the NRR too for qualification. And Rinku finished the chase with a boundary, having 7 balls left in the game.

At this point, 9 defeats for Mumbai is not the matter of discussion. It's KKR who won 6 matches in their last 7 matches—similar to the only six wins Punjab Kings had in the first half of the season.

Manish Pandey rises in his maiden match of the season

Mumbai Indians posted 147/8 after collapsing to 41/4 inside the powerplay at Eden Gardens. Corbin Bosch top-scored with an unbeaten 32 off 18 balls, while Hardik Pandya made 26. Saurabh Dubey, Cameron Green and Kartik Tyagi picked up two wickets each for KKR, while Sunil Narine conceded only 13 runs in four overs.

In reply, Manish Pandey anchored the chase with 45 off 33 balls, while Rovman Powell struck 40 from 30 deliveries. Ajinkya Rahane added 21 at the top before KKR crossed 100 in 12.1 overs. Bosch impressed again with figures of 3/30, dismissing Rahane, Green and Tejasvi Dahiya. Jasprit Bumrah and AM Ghazanfar claimed one wicket each, but KKR’s middle order ensured the chase stayed under control throughout the innings.
