Delhi: Under the captaincy of Shan Masood, Pakistan cricket team had to face a shameful defeat on the tour of Bangladesh. Bangladesh won the Sylhet Test by 78 runs and won the two-match Test series 2-0. With this defeat, Pakistan suffered its fourth consecutive Test defeat against Bangladesh, while this was the team’s seventh consecutive defeat on foreign soil.
After the defeat, captain Shan Masood clearly admitted that Pakistan cricket will no longer benefit from small changes only. He said that there is a need to make deep improvements in both the team and the system. According to Masood, the team will have to seriously analyze its shortcomings in all the three departments of batting, bowling and fielding.
We have to move forward with the mindset of improvement
Shan Masood said that this defeat is very disappointing for all the players and fans. He admitted that the team was unhappy with this performance and also apologized to the fans. However, he also said that instead of taking decisions emotionally, it is important to focus on concrete strategy and long-term improvements.
According to the Pakistani captain, the team had opportunities to make a comeback in both the Test matches, but the mistakes made at important moments changed the course of the match. He said that even small mistakes in Test cricket cause huge losses and his team became a victim of this.
Masood is not in favor of changing the entire team
Despite continuous poor results, Shan Masood did not support the demand for large-scale changes in the entire team. He says that the team should first identify its positive things and then work on the weak areas in a planned manner.
On the questions being raised regarding captaincy, Masood said that he had accepted this responsibility with the intention of improving Pakistan Test cricket. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will decide what the future decision will be regarding captaincy. He said that whatever role he plays, he will continue to contribute to the country with full honesty.
