Watch: Manish Pandey And Cameron Green Take Brilliant Catches To Dismiss MI Openers in MI vs KKR Clash

Kolkata Knight Riders really looked on top of things with the fielding during the powerplay vs Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026 at Eden Gardens, kinda like it all clicked at once not sure how else to explain it. Manish Pandey and Cameron Green had those two catches that everyone kept talking about, because Mumbai Indians lost a few early wickets and then just couldn’t find any real rhythm.

First to go was Ryan Rickelton, he tried to go for an aggressive shot against Cameron Green and it backfired. Green was bowling from around the wicket, came in with a hard length ball that angled in nicely. Rickelton attempted that well known pick-up shot over square leg, but the timing wasn’t there, and you could tell from the start it was risky.

The ball actually went so high into the night sky that the catch became a tricky business. Pandey though, moved in a calm way from cover-point, stayed right under it, and grabbed it with both hands for a safe take. The senior fella showed good balance and focus even with all that pressure building.

Cameron Green takes Calm catch to remove Rohit Sharma

A young pacer Saurabh Dubey sent in a slower delivery to Rohit Sharma. Rohit tried to force it into the leg side, but the shot went wrong, mistimed, and the ball sailed high over mid-wicket. Green adjusted fast, ran backward with his eyes locked on the ball, and completed a clean catch.

It hung in the air for ages, so it’s the sort of opportunity where anyone can lose it , but Green made it look too smooth, like it was just routine.

Mumbai Indians Struggles after Early wickets

KKRcelebrated loudly because their early discipline with the ball and fielding basically pushed MI into a tough zone from the start.

As for the rest, Kolkata decided to bowl first after the toss and their bowlers hit the ground running. Mumbai Indians slipped to 46/4 after six overs. Rickelton made 6 off 7 before he was caught by Manish Pandey off Cameron Green. Rohit Sharma, meanwhile, scored 15 from 13 with two sixes before Green removed him, caught off Saurabh Dubey’s bowling.

Naman Dhir also couldn’t last long, he got out for a duck after being caught by Angkrish Raghuvanshi off Cameron Green. Suryakumar Yadav tried to move things forward with a quick little knock of 15 off just 6 , but Dubey cleaned him up.

By the end of six overs Tilak Varma was on 2, and captain Hardik Pandya remained unbeaten on 5. Saurabh Dubey picked up 2 wickets for 22 in his three overs, and Cameron Green matched that with 2 wickets for 17 from his two-over spell.
