This year a total of 1788 matches will be played in domestic cricket. The domestic season will start with Duleep Trophy from 23rd August. This tournament, played between 6 zonal teams, will start the long format.

BCCI announced 2026-27 domestic season

As per the schedule released by BCCI, the domestic season will start with the prestigious Duleep Trophy from 23 August 2026. After this, Irani Cup and then India’s biggest domestic tournament Ranji Trophy will be organized from October 1. Ranji Trophy will start from October 11, which will be played in two phases. The first phase of Ranji Trophy Elite will start from October 11 and continue till November 5. The second phase will be played from 17 January to 4 February. The knockout matches will be held between February 9 and March 3 next year.

The BCCI press release also said, “The Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy winner vs Rest of India match has been reintroduced in the upcoming season. The tournament will be played from 1 to 4 October 2026. The match returns to the domestic calendar to provide a better competitive platform to the budding Under-23 cricketers”. Apart from this, according to the report of Cricbuzz, BCCI has also decided to change the Men’s Under-23 State A Trophy and Visy Trophy from ODI tournaments to T20 tournaments.

Where will he compete with Syed Mushtaq Ali?

The league stage matches of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Elite will be played in Mumbai, Visakhapatnam, Kolkata and Mohali from 14 to 26 November, while the knockout matches will be played in Nagpur from 30 to 6 December. The league stage in the plate division of the tournament will conclude four days earlier on 22 November and the final will be played on 24 November. All these matches will be held in Dimapur.
