Giving great relief to the slot book farmers, the Madhya Pradesh government has extended the last date for wheat purchase from May 23 to May 28. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the government will purchase 100 lakh metric tons of wheat this year.

Bhopal. A big relief news has come to the farmers regarding wheat procurement in Madhya Pradesh. Those farmers who have booked their slots till 23rd May, now their wheat will be purchased till 28th May. Announcing this decision on May 20, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the government is continuously taking decisions in the interest of farmers and no farmer will be allowed to face problems.

CM Mohan Yadav Announcement: Madhya Pradesh towards record wheat purchase

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said in a discussion with the media that the state government has made a new record in wheat procurement this year. He told that last year about 77 lakh metric tonnes of wheat was purchased, whereas this time the government is going to buy 100 lakh metric tonnes of wheat. He said that Madhya Pradesh has purchased wheat from the maximum number of farmers in the entire country. So far, about 91 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been purchased in the state.

Wheat Procurement Date Extended: Date extended due to long queue

The Chief Minister said that the farmers had informed the government that despite the slots being booked, there were long queues at the procurement centres, due to which many farmers were not able to purchase. Seeing this problem of the farmers, the government decided that wheat will be purchased from all the farmers who have booked slots. Under this, the last date for wheat procurement has been extended from May 23 to May 28.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the state government is fully committed to the welfare of farmers. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government is working keeping in mind the interests of farmers, poor, women and youth. Appealing to the farmers, he said that they should not worry about anything, because the government is making arrangements to buy wheat from all the farmers who have made slot booking.

The Chief Minister said that amidst the global circumstances, there are many challenges like storage of wheat, providing gunny bags, weather and transportation. Despite this, the government has increased the storage capacity and strengthened the procurement system. He informed that the state government will pay wheat to the farmers at the rate of Rs 2625 per quintal at the procurement centres.
