With the game still goalless entering the final stages, the breakthrough came from Viktor Gyokeres, who had been brought in the previous summer as the missing piece of Arsenal’s attacking puzzle.

Yet, Mikel Arteta’s men responded admirably. A superb early goal from Eberechi Eze secured a narrow victory over Newcastle at the Emirates, restoring Arsenal to the summit of the table. From that point on, they never relinquished their position.

Every title-winning side needs not only skill but also a fair share of fortune. Arsenal’s crucial win over West Ham United during the run-in demonstrated both. The Hammers, battling relegation, matched Arsenal stride for stride until a key moment swung the match.

Mateus Fernandes broke through on goal in a one-on-one situation, seemingly destined to score, but David Raya produced a stunning save to keep the scores level. That pivotal stop paved the way for Arsenal’s late winner, with Leandro Trossard finding the net as the clock ticked down.

The drama wasn’t over, as Callum Wilson appeared to grab a stoppage-time equaliser for West Ham. However, VAR intervened, ruling the goal out for a foul on Raya in the build-up. The decision was correct, but it did little to ease the tension of an unforgettable contest.
