Trinamool Congress councilor and former MLA of Rajarhat-Gopalpur assembly constituency Debraj Chakraborty, husband of singer-politician Aditi Munshi, has been detained by the police. However, the police have not yet confirmed whether Debraj Chakraborty, considered close to Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, has been formally arrested or not.

It is being told that he was detained on Tuesday night in a case to the violence that took place after the 2021 assembly elections. According to the information, his interrogation is still going on and this action has been taken on the basis of an old case registered against him.

This case is to the violence that took place after the declaration of 2021 assembly election results. During the same time, BJP worker Prosenjit Biswas died under suspicious circumstances. It was alleged that he was instigated to commit suicide. The incident sparked major political controversy at the time and was included among the major cases of post-poll violence.

According to sources, Debraj Chakraborty has been detained for questioning in this old case. He is a Trinamool Congress councilor in Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation. However, no official statement has been issued by the police yet on this entire matter.

Meanwhile, after BJP got the majority, many leaders have raised their voice against the alleged criminal activities of Debraj Chakraborty on social media and demanded his arrest.
