Kerala CM VD Satheesan Scraps Silver Line Project: The new Chief Minister of Kerala, VD Satheesan, has started appearing in action mode after taking oath. The cabinet led by CM Satheesan took a very important political decision within a few days of assuming charge. The Chief Minister has started the formal process to scrap the controversial Silver Line semi-high-speed rail project in the state. The government has announced the cancellation of all land acquisition notifications issued for this project across the state.

Speaking to the media after his government’s second cabinet meeting in Thiruvananthapuram, Chief Minister VD Satheesan announced that all land acquisition processes to the Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod Silver Line semi-high-speed rail corridor have been formally cancelled. This step of the new government is being considered a big message for the previous leftist government.

FIR registered against protesters will be withdrawn

While talking to the media, CM Satheeshan said, we had opposed this project from the beginning. Now the notification of the land marked for acquisition has been cancelled. In a big relief to the people protesting against the Silver Line project, the government announced that the government will withdraw all the criminal cases registered against them. For this, the government will start necessary process in the court.

Announcement of removal of survey stones

He further said that the controversial yellow survey stones installed in private properties during the survey by the previous government will also be removed. V.D. Satheesan said the project was a potential disaster for the environment. His government is in favor of such development works that do not harm people and ecology.

The Cabinet also decided to recommend to the Kerala Public Service Commission that all rank lists due to expire on August 31 be extended till November 30, thereby benefiting thousands of candidates.

Vision 2031 roadmap ready

Chief Minister Satheesan said that the implementation roadmap will be prepared under the government’s long-term Vision 2031 plan by sending the election manifesto of UDF to all the departments. Also, a 100-day action plan will also be released soon.

This will focus on promises that can be implemented immediately. He also indicated that the ongoing National Highway construction works in Kerala will be reviewed and all aspects to the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board will be examined.

responded to criticisms

The Chief Minister reacted to the ongoing criticism regarding his name. The Chief Minister said that there should be no objection in using his father’s name. He told that he also wanted to add his mother’s name. During this, he clarified that his parents had passed away even before becoming a minister. Chief Minister Satheesan also responded to the criticism raised on his meeting with religious and community leaders.

He says that he will maintain cordial relations with all sections of the society. There will be no compromise with secular values. Rejecting the allegations of delay in allocation of cabinet departments, he said that the departments were decided on the night of the swearing-in. It was formally handed over to Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Wednesday.
