Historic Rome Modi-Meloni Meeting: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Italy’s capital Rome in the last leg of his five-nation tour. On his arrival in Rome, he was given a wonderful and very warm welcome by Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni. After the meeting, the two leaders had dinner together and took a special tour of the famous historical site Colosseum. During this visit, strategic partnership between the two countries and further strengthening of mutual relations were discussed.
Many important efforts are being made continuously to promote trade and investment between India and Italy. Bilateral trade between the two countries is expected to increase to US$ 16.77 billion by the year 2025. At the same time, a huge investment of 3.66 billion US dollars has also come from Italy to India from April 2000 to September 2025. This visit is going to be very helpful in giving a new direction to the joint strategic action plan of 2025-2029.
PM Modi visits Colosseum with PM Meloni
Pictures and videos of the meeting between PM Modi and Meloni are going viral very fast on social media. Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni herself took PM Modi to Rome’s most famous historical place, the Colosseum. After this, both the leaders traveled in the same car and also shared pictures on social media platform X.
On reaching Rome, the Indian community living there welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi very grandly and warmly. PM Modi met many people from the Indian community at his hotel and also witnessed spectacular cultural programs. During this, a small child presented a beautiful painting made by him to PM Modi on which he autographed.
During his meeting with the Indian community, PM Modi also specially met Swami Shuddhananda Ghiri. Swamini told that the Parliament of Italy has recognized Sanatan Dharma Sangh as an official religion. She greatly appreciated Prime Minister Modi’s support and said that this is the second time she is meeting the PM.
Final leg of five country tour
Just before reaching Italy, Prime Minister Modi was in Norway as part of the fourth phase of his big foreign tour. Before Norway, PM Modi has also completed a very successful tour of Sweden, Netherlands and United Arab Emirates. After strengthening India’s relations with all these countries, this Italy tour is an important part of his diplomatic journey.
India and Italy are currently working very fast on the joint strategic action plan for the year 2025-2029. Under this scheme, cooperation is being increased in the areas of defence, security, clean energy, innovation and modern technology. The main goal of both countries is to build a new and secure future by strengthening relations between their people.
