The Employees' Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) is soon set to launch a WhatsApp platform for the convenience of its members. The objective is to expand its outreach and simplify its services. Members will be able to send a message containing the word "Hello" from their registered mobile numbers to EPFO's verified WhatsApp number. Following this, they will receive a menu of options in their local language, enabling them to easily access information such as their PF balance, the last five transactions, and claim status.
24/7 services will be available through an AI chatbot. In particular, pending cases related to PMVBRY (Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana) and Aadhaar-related issues will be resolved directly on WhatsApp. This initiative is being launched keeping in mind the widespread usage of WhatsApp across India.
**Available Features:**
* Check PF balance
* Track claim status
* Access details of the last transaction
* Register complaints and queries
* **Millions of Salaried Employees to Benefit**
EPFO already offers a grievance redressal facility via a WhatsApp helpline. This service is currently available across its regional offices nationwide. Under the "EPFO 3.0" initiative, the organization is continuously digitizing its services. In the near future, facilities such as PF withdrawals via UPI and ATMs may also be introduced. Additionally, work is underway to implement automated claim settlements and accelerate processing speeds. With millions of members across the country, the launch of this WhatsApp-based service will significantly reduce the need for people to make repeated visits to EPFO offices. This is expected to provide substantial relief, particularly to employees residing in smaller towns and remote areas.
**Expectations of a Pension Hike**
EPFO may soon provide significant relief to millions of salaried individuals across the country. According to media reports, EPFO is currently considering an increase in the minimum pension amount. It is anticipated that the minimum pension threshold could be raised from ₹1,000 to ₹3,000. In fact, given the rising inflation and evolving standards of living, there has been a long-standing demand to increase the minimum pension limit.
