Guwahati: The Senior Selection Committee of BCCI has announced the Indian team for the home series against Afghanistan. Wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has not been included in the ODI team of this series. He has also been removed from the vice-captaincy of the team for the only test match.
KL Rahul has been made the new vice-captain of the Test team, while Shubman Gill will captain the team in both formats.
Two new faces in the test team
Spinner Manav Sutar and fast bowler Gurnoor Brar have been included in the Indian Test team for the first time. Ravindra Jadeja has been rested from the Test.
Test Team: Shubman Gill (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul (vice-captain), Sai Sudarshan, Rishabh Pant, Devdutt Padikkal, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, Manav Sutar, Gurnoor Brar, Dhruv Jurel and Harsh Dubey.
ODI Team: Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Prince Yadav, Gurnoor Brar and Harsh Dubey.
The only Test match will be played in Mullanpur on June 6, while the three-match ODI series will be played in Dharamsala, Lucknow and Chennai from June 14.
