New Delhi:The country is currently facing two very different and extreme forms of weather. On one hand, people of North and Central India are scorching due to the heat of the sun and severe heat wave, while on the other hand, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for a large part of the country, which will increase the tension of storm. According to meteorologists, within the next 17 hours the weather is going to change in 19 states of the country, where heavy rains with strong winds are expected.
Storm warning in 19 states
According to the latest bulletin of the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy to very heavy rain in the North-East and adjoining eastern Indian states in the next few hours. The 19 states for which storm and rain alert has been issued include Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. During this period, destructive winds can blow at a speed of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour in these states, whose maximum speed can reach up to 81 kilometers per hour.
The temperature will reach 46 degrees
Amidst this alert of storm and rain, people of the country’s capital Delhi and Uttar Pradesh do not seem to be getting any respite from the heat at present. The sky will be completely clear in Delhi and there is a possibility of severe heat wave in many areas along with strong sunlight. The maximum temperature here can reach 44 to 46 degrees Celsius.

The weather pattern is going to change completely in the hilly state of Uttarakhand between May 20 and May 23. While Dehradun will remain partly cloudy, high altitude districts like Uttarkashi and Chamoli are expected to receive heavy showers along with thunderstorms. However, heat wave-like conditions may persist in the plains as well.
Orange alert issued
Talking about Uttar Pradesh, the temperature here in Banda has already touched the level of 47.6 degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Department has warned that extremely hot winds will blow across the state between May 20 and 25. Red/Orange alert has been issued for big cities like Agra, Noida, Jalaun, Bareilly, Varanasi, Prayagraj and Kanpur and people have been advised to stay in their homes in the afternoon.
