Mikel Arteta's first words on Arsenal winning the 2025-26 Premier League title have been revealed. The Gunners became champions for the first time in 22 years thanks to Manchester City drawing 1-1 away at Bournemouth on Tuesday. That came 24 hours after Arsenal beat Burnley 1-0 at the Emirates Stadium. Those results mean Arsenal have a four-point buffer over City with one game left to play.

And in a video released on Arsenal's social media channels, Arteta said: "We made history again, together. I cannot be happier, prouder for everybody that is involved in this football club. Let's enjoy the moment." The club's most recent title-winning boss before Arteta, the iconic Arsene Wenger, said in the same film: "You did it. Champions go on, when others stop. This is your time. Now, go on and enjoy every moment."

While midfielder Declan Rice posted a picture of himself stood next to Kai Havertz, Eberechi Eze, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Bukayo Saka and William Saliba which he captioned: "I told you all.. it's done."

Arsenal's official accounts shared footage of all the players celebrating wildly as they watched City's match at Bournemouth at their London Colney training base. The full-time whistle at the Vitality Stadium sparked scenes of pure ecstasy with a huge group huddle and chants of 'championes, championes!'

In winning the league for the first time since the 2003-04 Invincibles, Arsenal have ended their longest wait for the title since their first triumph back in 1931. This is the north Londoners' 14th league title and their fourth in the Premier League era.

Bournemouth's draw at the Vitality Stadium means Arsenal will lift the trophy away at Selhurst Park on Sunday. They play Crystal Palace in the final match of the league campaign, six days before they face Paris Saint-Germain in their first Champions League final since 2006.

The Gunners have never lifted the European Cup in their 139-year history so could yet complete an historic double in the Hungarian city of Budapest.

Man City manager Pep Guardiola congratulated Arsenal after their draw, saying: "[I need to] congratulate Arsenal, Mikel and the backroom staff, the fans for the Premier League which they deserved.

"I would love to have arrived in the last moment [and taken the title race to the last day]. Today the fatigue was there. Bournemouth had 12 days to prepare. The impact from the fresh players was not good enough. We fought a lot and we prepare next season."

Arsenal fans gathered in their thousands outside the Emirates Stadium to watch City's stalemate and erupted when the final scoreline confirmed their long-awaited title triumph.

Arsenal had finished as runners-up in three consecutive seasons before this. In back-to-back seasons in 2023 and 2024, Arteta's team were chased down by Guardiola's City and missed out in agonising circumstances.

The Londoners missed another chance last year when they finished second to Arne Slot's Liverpool as City suffered an off-season, but have now finally seized their chance to end a 22-year wait.

In a post on their website, Arsenal wrote: "After guiding us to the 2025/26 Premier League title, Mikel Arteta has cemented his place in our history as one of our greatest managers of all time.

"Our former captain has become the first former Arsenal player to go on and lead us to a top-flight championship as a manager, having ended our 22-year wait after overseeing a huge transformation in our fortunes since taking charge in December 2019."
