RR vs LSG: Rajasthan beats Lucknow by 7 wickets, 1 win away from qualifying for playoff

The 64th match of IPL 2026 was played between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on 19 May at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. The match was completely high scoring. Batting first, Lucknow scored 220 runs but despite this, Rajasthan batted brilliantly and easily achieved this big target. RR won this match by 7 wickets. With this win, Rajasthan still kept its playoff hopes alive.

 

After defeating Lucknow, Rajasthan has jumped in the points table. The team has now moved from fifth to fourth, while Punjab Kings has slipped one place to fifth. Rajasthan has played 13 matches so far, out of which it has won 7 and lost 6. The team has 14 points in its account and its net run rate has become +0.083. Now to secure the playoff ticket, Rajasthan will have to win its last league match at any cost. The team’s next match will be played against Mumbai Indians on 24 May.

 

LSG innings

Lucknow Super Giants started their innings with a bang. The team scored 83 runs in the powerplay without losing any wicket. After this, the attack of the batsmen continued in the middle overs also. Between 7 and 15 overs, Lucknow added 82 runs after losing 2 wickets. The team lost 3 wickets in the death overs but still managed to score 55 runs. On the basis of this brilliant batting, LSG scored a huge score of 220 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs.

Mitchell Marsh scored the highest score of 96 runs for LSG. Josh English also batted brilliantly and scored 60 runs. Apart from these, Rishabh Pant played an inning of 35 runs. On the other hand, from Rajasthan side, Yashraj Punja took 2 wickets, while Joffra Archer got 1 wicket. Mitchell Marsh and Rishabh Pant were run out and returned to the pavilion.

 

Rajasthan’s innings

Rajasthan started its innings with a bang in Lucknow style. In the powerplay, the team scored 71 runs without losing any wicket. After this, in the middle overs also, the batsmen thrashed the Lucknow bowlers and added 117 runs after losing only 2 wickets between 7 and 15 overs. Then in the death overs, Rajasthan played comfortably and scored 37 runs after losing one wicket. In this way, Rajasthan Royals scored 225 runs for 3 wickets in 19.1 overs and won the match by 7 wickets with 5 balls remaining.

 

Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored the highest 93 runs for Rajasthan and narrowly missed scoring a century. Whereas Dhruv Jurel played an unbeaten inning of 53 runs. Captain Yashasvi Jaiswal also scored 43 runs. On the other hand, from Lucknow side only Akash Singh and Mohsin Khan got 1-1 wicket. Luan-Dre Pretorius was run out. Rest of the Rajasthan bowlers were badly beaten.
