A big game may soon be seen in the Indian taxi market. Vietnam’s big electric vehicle (EV) company VinFast is no longer limited to selling only its EV vehicles in India. The company has also made a strong entry into the taxi service business. For this, it has started its subsidiary company Green SM, which will initially run its cab service in the cities of North India. Its fare is said to be only Rs 8 per kilometer. With the arrival of this new taxi service, it is expected to give tough competition to big companies like Ola and Uber, which already dominate the domestic market.

The buzz about this new launch gained momentum when a video went viral on social media, in which VinFast’s limo green electric MPV cars were seen parked in a queue with commercial taxi number plates (black and yellow). All these vehicles are gray in color and are completely ready to hit the Indian roads.

Starting with 10 thousand cars

If reports are to be believed, Green SM is going to enter India with a large fleet of around 10,000 electric cars. The company is also recruiting drivers on a large scale to expand its business rapidly. The most interesting thing is that here the drivers will not be given commission based earnings, but will be given a fixed salary of Rs 35,000 to Rs 40,000 every month. It is believed that this model can prove to be a big game changer in the cab sector.

fare of 8 per kilometer

At present, the biggest discussion in the market is about the fare of this cab service. If reports are to be believed, Green SM may keep the starting fare of its taxi at only Rs 8 per kilometer. Currently, Ola and Uber fares are much higher than this, especially during peak times. In such a situation, the tension of Ola-Uber drivers has increased after hearing the news of such cheap fares. Even on social media, many drivers are expressing their concern about their reduced earnings.
