If you are looking for something a little different to watch on the box, a "shocking" new documentary has been described as "must watch" television.
TV and film reviewer Luke Eccleston highlighted the 90-minute show, which he claims has seen Netflix subscribers "cancelling their plans" in order to binge-watch it. "This might be the most gripping documentary that has dropped on Netflix all year," he declared in a TikTok video.
The documentary in question is called The Crash. "It's a true crime story that follows a 17-year old girl and when she crashes her car into a building, she kills her boyfriend and her friend," Luke revealed.
However, without giving too much of the plot away, he explained that what initially was viewed as an accident turned out to be something much more sinister. "It's a murder," Luke said. "It delves into the case and is a psychological drama that will genuinely blow your mind."
The reviewer went on to admit he was "gripped from start to finish" with The Crash "so well done". He concluded: "I'm going to be telling everyone about it."
Netflix's brief synopsis of The Crash states: "A teen slams her car into a building, killing her boyfriend and his friend. What seems like a tragic accident becomes a murder case in this documentary."
Directed by Gareth Johnson, the documentary follows the story of Mackenzie Shirilla, whose crash killed Dominic Russo and Davion Flanagan and resulted in her being convicted of 12 felonies.
The documentary has an IMDb rating of 6.7 out of 10 from more than 2,000 reviews. One recent review read: "A must-watch for true-crime fans. It's an emotional rollercoaster which will keep you intrigued, invested and guessing from start to finish."
A second person wrote: "This is one of those true-crime documentaries where you'll be shocked that certain people thought it was a good idea to participate."
While a third penned: "Ultimately, The Crash is more than just a true-crime documentary; it's a call to action to look at your own screen and ask yourself: if my life were stripped down to my highlights, what story would it tell?"
This isn't the only series that dedicates air time to Mackenzie Shirilla and her case. True crime series, Killer Cases also features an instalment (episode 12) surrounding the incident. Titled, 'Murder on Wheels', viewers can still stream it via Channel 4.
