IPL 2026: Mitchell Marsh Creates Record No Other LSG Batter Including KL Rahul Could Reach
Cricket Gully | May 20, 2026 12:39 AM CST

Mitchell Marsh's stellar season in the IPL 2026 continues to shine through as he has again played another sensational inning for the Lucknow Super Giants against Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur. Not only did the Australian all-rounder give another quick-fire start for LSG but also achieved a very special milestone.

Having asked to bat first, the LSG openers, Marsh and Josh Inglis started their innings in dream style and thrashed the Rajasthan Royals bowlers to all corners. They stitched a phenomenal 109 runs for the opening wicket and totally dominated the Powerplay.

Marsh slammed his half-century off only 22 balls by smashing boundaries and sixes. He hit 4 boundaries and as many sixes and never let the scoring rate dip in the Powerplay.

With the innings, the Aussie crossed the 500-run mark in the ongoing IPL 2026 and created a huge LSG record.

Mitchell Marsh Creates Historic LSG Record

Mitchell Marsh becomes LSG's first ever player to score 500 runs in back-to-back IPL seasons

The Aussie T20I captain has now registered back-to-back seasons with over 500 runs in the Indian Premier League. Marsh scored 627 runs in IPL 2025 and the 500-run mark in the 2026 edition as no LSG batter has been able to make this feat before.

During KL Rahul's captaincy and batting, the former LSG skipper was one of their most prized players but was able to cross 500 runs only once in his career for the team. Marsh has now bettered the former skipper by crossing 500 runs in back-to-back season.

Marsh currently has so far scored 537 runs from 13 games for LSG at a mind-boggling average of nearly 45 and a Strike Rate of over 160 including 1 ton and 3 half-centuries.

Marsh Continues Brilliant Run of Form

Australia's batting sensation is having a stellar run in recent outings. He played a handy 90 in the prior fixture against Chennai Super Kings, and in the fixture before that against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, he made a scintillating 111.

Even against Mumbai Indians in their fixture at the Wankhede Stadium, Marsh chipped in with 44 valuable runs. These are just his recent contributions with the willow and demonstrates his current indispensability to the LSG lineup.

Though the LSG team is out of the playoff competition for IPL 2026, the Australia all-rounder has maintained a high standard throughout the tournament. Lucknow is still hunting for its maiden IPL title in its tenure and in Marsh, they have found a consistent performer with the bat.
