Team India announced for Test and ODI series, many new faces got entry

New Delhi. The Indian Premier League is currently in full swing in India. The final match of IPL 2026 will be played on 31 May. After this Team India will be in the field. The Indian team will be seen playing Test and ODI series in June, for which the Indian squad has been announced.

Actually, Team India will host the Afghanistan team in June. A test match and a 3-match ODI series will be played between the two teams. In such a situation, a meeting of the Men’s Selection Committee was held in Guwahati on 19th May, in which the Indian team was selected for both Test and ODI. The one-off Test will start from June 6 in Mullanpur, for which the 14-member Indian team has been announced.

It is noteworthy that this will be Afghanistan’s first test match against India after 2018. It was only in 2018 that Afghanistan officially participated in a Test match for the first time at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. India won that match by an innings and 262 runs.

    Virat and Rohit’s place remains intact

    15 players have been selected for the ODI series against Afghanistan, which includes Virat and Rohit Sharma. Rishabh Pant has been dropped from India’s ODI team for the series against Afghanistan. At the same time, the vice-captaincy of the Test team has been handed over to KL Rahul. Earlier, Pant was the vice-captain of the Test team. However, Pant managed to retain his place in the Test. Once again star bowler Mohammed Shami was ignored. Ajit Agarkar has clearly said that the selection committee did not even discuss the name of Mohammed Shami.

    2 new faces got chance in both test and ODI

    India’s veteran fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been rested from the entire series against Afghanistan, so that his workload can be managed before the England tour. Many new faces have been included in both the teams, including Manav Suthar, Harsh Dubey, Gurnoor Brar and Prince Yadav. Manav Suthar has been included in the Test team for the first time. Whereas, Gurnoor Brar and Harsh Dubey were successful in getting a place in both the teams. Whereas, Prince Yadav has joined the ODI team for the first time.
