Mumbai: A major reshuffle has been carried out in the Mumbai Police force, with transfers and fresh postings announced for several senior officers. The changes come amid pending promotions for some officers and transfers of others outside Mumbai. Officials said the reshuffle was undertaken to meet administrative requirements and ensure smooth functioning of the department.
According to orders issued by the Mumbai Police Commissionerate, responsibilities of several Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) and Additional Commissioners of Police have been reassigned across various divisions.
Former Joint Commissioner of Mumbai Traffic Police, 2005 batch IPS officer Anil Kumbhare, has been appointed as Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch. The Crime Branch is one of Mumbai Police’s most crucial units, handling organized crime, major criminal investigations, and underworld-related cases.
Manoj Kumar Sharma to Oversee Law and Order
Popularly known for inspiring the biographical film 12th Fail, Manoj Kumar Sharma, an IPS officer of 2005 batch, has been posted as Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Mumbai. He was previously serving as Inspector General of Police (Law and Order), Maharashtra. Sharma had earlier served as DCP Zone 1 and Additional Commissioner of Police (West Region) in Mumbai
Dcp Krishnakant Upadhyay has been promoted and appointed as Additional Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch.

Continuing his upward trajectory, in 2026 he received a promotion and was appointed as DCP, Zone-III, Mumbai City.

Dixitkumar Ashok Gedam is a 2012-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Maharashtra cadre who has held several important postings in the state police force. He earlier served as Superintendent of Police (SP), Sindhudurg district, where he handled district-level law and order responsibilities. Subsequently, he was posted in Mumbai as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Zone VIII, a role he held during the 2023–2025 period. In late 2024, he was assigned as DCP, Zone IX, Mumbai, continuing his responsibilities in the city police administration.

In 2020, he served as Superintendent of Police (SP), Kolhapur. In 2023, he was posted to Mumbai as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Zone-II, Mumbai. Subsequently, in 2024, he was appointed as Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP), South Region, Mumbai, and continued in the same post during 2025. In 2026, he was elevated as Additional Commissioner of Police, South Region, Mumbai, marking another significant step in his policing career.
Dhananjay Kulkarni as Additional Commissioner, East Regional Division, and Mokshada Patil as Additional Commissioner, Traffic.
Among the DCP-level changes, Manish Kalwaniya has been transferred from Zone 8 to Zone 1.Maneesh Kalwaniya is a 2015-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer currently serving as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Mumbai City. An alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, he later pursued his MDPM (Master’s Degree in Police Management) from Osmania University. Mr. Kalwaniya underwent professional police training at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy from December 2015 to October 2016. Since joining the police service, he has served for more than eight years in various law enforcement assignments across Maharashtra.
while Ragasudha R. has been shifted from Zone 4 to Zone 2. Ragasudha R is a 2015-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Maharashtra cadre. She has served in various policing assignments in the state and is regarded as part of the younger generation of IPS officers handling important law and order and administrative responsibilities within Maharashtra Police.
Nitin Goyal from the Special Action Force has been appointed as DCP of Zone 8.

Senior officials expressed confidence that the reshuffle would strengthen law and order management in the city in the coming months. It is also being said that the changes have opened opportunities for officers awaiting promotions.
