New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on Norway tour, talked about giving a new direction to the relations between India and Norway in the joint press meet. PM Modi said that both the countries are now going to form a green strategic partnership. This partnership will include areas like clean energy, climate resilience, blue economy and green shipping. Global solutions will be created by combining India’s scale and talent with Norway’s technology and capital.
Expressed gratitude to Norway by mentioning Pahalgam attack
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that it is a pleasure for him to come to Norway. This country is a great example of balance between nature and human progress. He thanked the Prime Minister of Norway for the warm welcome. The PM greeted the people of Norway on its Constitution Day.
He told that last year he was to come to Norway, but due to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam the trip had to be postponed. In that difficult time, Norway showed true friendship by supporting India against terrorism. PM Modi expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Norway for this solidarity.
Target of 100 billion investment and 1 million jobs
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that today the world is passing through a period of uncertainty. Be it Ukraine or West Asia, conflicts are going on in many places. In such a situation, India and Europe are entering a new golden phase of their relations. Last year, the historic Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement between India and the European Free Trade Association came into force.
This agreement is a blueprint for shared progress between India and Norway. Under this, the target is to invest 100 billion dollars in India and create 1 million jobs in the next 15 years. The PM said that both the countries have taken important decisions to convert this promise into results.
Cooperation will increase in research, space and Arctic
PM Modi said that research, education and innovation are strong pillars of relations between the two countries. It has been agreed to increase research cooperation in the fields of sustainability, ocean energy, zoology and health. The partnership will be made future ready by connecting university and startup systems in engineering, AI, cyber and digital sectors.
Work will also be done on skill development and talent mobility. Norway is an important country in the Arctic region. India has a long-standing collaboration with Norway in Arctic and polar research. PM expressed gratitude to Norway for India’s Arctic Research Station Himadri. The MOU between ISRO and Norway Space Agency will give new strength to space cooperation.
