In the 2026 recruitment drive for Agniveer SSR and MR, young aspirants will receive a tax-free ‘Seva Nidhi’ package worth up to ₹10.04 lakhs. Learn all about the complete salary structure and essential benefits.
Millions of young people across the country dream of serving the nation by becoming an Agniveer. Under the Agniveer Scheme, youth are provided with military training at a young age, a competitive salary, and financial assistance for their future. Candidates selected through the Agniveer SSR and MR recruitment process receive an annual salary increment, various allowances, and a substantial ‘Seva Nidhi’ package upon the completion of their service. This is precisely why the Agniveer Scheme is rapidly gaining popularity among the youth.
Salary of ₹30,000 in the First Year
In the first year, candidates are provided with a customized monthly package of ₹30,000. Of this amount, approximately ₹21,000 is received as ‘in-hand’ salary, while ₹9,000 is deposited into the Agniveer Corpus Fund. The government also contributes an equal amount of ₹9,000 from its side. This helps build a substantial future fund for the soldiers.
Agniveer Salary Increases Every Year
Under the Agniveer Scheme, the salary is increased annually. In the second year, the monthly package rises to ₹33,000, with approximately ₹23,100 received as ‘in-hand’ pay. In the third year, this figure climbs to ₹36,500, while in the fourth year, candidates are provided with a package reaching up to ₹40,000 per month. In the fourth year, the ‘in-hand’ salary amounts to approximately ₹28,000. This provides young individuals with the opportunity to become financially secure.
A ‘Seva Nidhi’ Package of ₹10.04 Lakhs After 4 Years
Upon the successful completion of their service, Agniveers are awarded a ‘Seva Nidhi’ package amounting to approximately ₹10.04 lakhs. This sum comprises both the candidate’s contribution and the amount deposited by the government. Most importantly, this entire package is exempt from income tax; in other words, the soldiers are not required to pay any form of tax on this amount.
Various Government Allowances Received Alongside Salary
In addition to their basic salary, soldiers are provided with various allowances such as risk and hardship allowance, uniform allowance, and travel allowance. The value of these allowances may vary depending on the specific duty and posting. This further enhances their total income. Agniveers are afforded the opportunity to work in a disciplined and secure environment.
No Provident Fund or Pension Facilities
The Agniveer scheme has been designed based on a service tenure of four years. Under this scheme, soldiers recruited do not receive benefits such as a Provident Fund, gratuity, or a pension. However, the government asserts that the training, skills, and experience acquired by these young individuals during their period of service will prove to be immensely beneficial for their future careers.
