The 60-minute buffet also offers King of King, Red Prawn, D24, and D13 durians, served in air-conditioned comfort, the chain said in an announcement on its website.

Each ticket also comes with up to 300g of fresh mangosteen and one fresh coconut.

The buffet will run at selected time slots at the chain’s Parkway Parade location between June 19-21 and VivoCity outlet between June 26-28.

There is also an Early Bird promotion for those booking early, with two tickets priced at S$150, available until June 12.

CDC vouchers, which come from a government program to help with rising cost of living, are accepted, but only for in-store bookings.

FairPrice Xtra will impose a S$3 surcharge per 100g of uneaten durians left on the plate at the end of each session to discourage food waste.

Durian is widely popular in Singapore, with Musang King or Mao Shan Wang being a particular favorite.

Most of the city-state’s supply comes from neighboring Malaysia, which is expected to see an earlier and longer durian season this year due to hot and dry weather. The fruits are also likely to be creamier and stronger-tasting, as reported by The Star.

As of late last month, many roadside stalls had started popping up in Penang, a Malaysian state known for durians, with sellers expecting higher supply and softer prices as the season peaks in June.
