Her first television project, shot in the mid-1980s, was rejected after a single episode for lacking a star cast, leaving her ambitions temporarily stalled. In 1984, she appeared in a Doordarshan show called Bombay Meri Hai. Unfortunately, the the initial, standalone test episode failed to impress the network, which felt the cast lacked established stars, and the series was shelved after just one episode. The show also featured Benjamin Gilani and Mazhar Khan, with direction by Anil Tejani.

Madhuri who was last seen in JioHotstar's Mrs. Deshpande, is now set to appear in the upcoming crime-comedy Maa Behen, which will premiere on Netflix on June 4.
