Crores of farmers across India who benefit from the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme are now eagerly waiting for the release of the next ₹2,000 installment. The government has issued an important update regarding the upcoming payment, and officials have clarified that farmers must complete certain verification processes to avoid disruption in receiving funds.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had released the 22nd installment of the PM-Kisan scheme on March 13, 2026, from Guwahati in Assam. More than 9.3 crore eligible farmers reportedly received direct benefit transfers under the scheme during that phase.

Now attention has shifted toward the 23rd installment, which is expected to be credited during the April–July 2026 payment cycle.

When Will the 23rd PM-Kisan Installment Be Released?

Under PM-Kisan scheme rules, eligible farmers receive financial assistance of ₹6,000 annually in three equal installments of ₹2,000 each.

The installments are distributed during three fixed periods:

  • April to July
  • August to November
  • December to March

Since the previous installment was released in March 2026, the next ₹2,000 installment is widely expected to arrive between June and July 2026.

However, the government has not yet officially announced the final release date for the 23rd installment.

Complete These 3 Important Tasks Immediately

Government authorities have made it clear that farmers with incomplete documentation or pending verification may face delays or suspension of payments.

To ensure uninterrupted transfer of the next installment, beneficiaries are advised to complete the following mandatory requirements immediately:

1. e-KYC Is Mandatory

According to the PM-Kisan portal, e-KYC has become compulsory for all registered beneficiaries.

Farmers can complete e-KYC through:

  • Nearby Common Service Centres (CSC) using biometric verification
  • OTP-based verification through the official PM-Kisan portal

Officials say many installments are getting delayed due to incomplete e-KYC records.

2. Aadhaar Must Be Linked With Bank Account

The bank account receiving PM-Kisan benefits must be properly linked with the beneficiary’s Aadhaar number.

Since payments are transferred through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system, Aadhaar seeding is essential for successful credit of funds.

Farmers should also ensure that:

  • The linked bank account remains active
  • Account details are correct
  • IFSC and account information match official records

3. Land Verification Must Be Complete

Beneficiaries must ensure that their agricultural land records are fully verified in government databases.

If land verification remains pending, installments may be withheld until the verification process is completed.

Officials are reportedly conducting stricter scrutiny to eliminate ineligible beneficiaries from the scheme.

Which Farmers May Face Payment Suspension?

Authorities are currently reviewing several categories of beneficiaries for eligibility verification.

Some cases that may face temporary suspension or scrutiny include:

  • Farmers who acquired land ownership after February 1, 2019
  • Families where multiple members are claiming benefits separately
  • Cases involving incomplete land ownership records
  • Beneficiaries with mismatched Aadhaar or banking details

For example, if both husband and wife from the same family are receiving PM-Kisan benefits separately, authorities may temporarily hold installments until verification is completed.

How Farmers Can Check PM-Kisan Payment Status

Beneficiaries can easily check their installment and registration status online.

To verify status:

  1. Visit the official PM-Kisan portal
  2. Go to the “Farmers Corner” section
  3. Click on “Know Your Status”
  4. Enter registration number or Aadhaar number
  5. Fill in the captcha code
  6. Click on “Get Status”

The system will display payment details, installment history, and verification status.

PM-Kisan Continues to Support Crores of Farmers

The PM-Kisan scheme remains one of the government’s largest direct income support initiatives for farmers.

The program was introduced to provide financial assistance for:

  • Agricultural expenses
  • Seeds and fertilizers
  • Irrigation needs
  • Small farming investments
  • Household support during crop cycles

Experts say the scheme has become particularly important for small and marginal farmers facing rising input costs and uncertain weather conditions.

Why Verification Rules Are Becoming Stricter

Government agencies have increased scrutiny in recent years to remove ineligible beneficiaries and prevent misuse of the scheme.

Authorities are now relying more heavily on:

  • Aadhaar-based verification
  • Digital land records
  • DBT-linked banking systems
  • Physical verification drives

Officials say stricter compliance is necessary to ensure that financial assistance reaches only genuine and eligible farmers.

Farmers are therefore being advised to regularly check their status and complete all pending formalities well before the next installment release window begins.
