Fans of Emmerdale believe they've exposed Vanessa Woodfield's revenge plan after a chilling Dr Todd warning.

ITV soap viewers will know that Dr Caitlin Todd (played by Caroline Harker) has been bullying her mentee, Jacob Sugden (Joe Warren Plant), for months. She has now set her sets on Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins), after learning that Jacob's newborn daughter, Leyla, wasn't his biological child - she is, in fact, Charity's daughter with Ross Barton (Michael Parr).

The evil doctor asked for £10,000 in exchange for her silence, with Charity reluctantly handing over £5,000 last week. Todd's plans to leave the village were soon put on hold after she learned that Charity owned half of The Woolpack.

Todd's blackmail increased when she asked for £100,000 for Charity to get rid of her, suggesting that the pub co-owner should sell her share to satisfy their agreement. Charity began to weigh her options during Monday's (May 18) episode, which is now available to stream on ITVX.

Charity was furious when she was declined a loan extension and felt the pressure when she received a text from Todd, reminding her of her debts. Meanwhile at Tug Ghyll, Vanessa (Michelle Hardwick) said that she had expected Todd to sneak into her room the night before, with Todd assuring her housemate that she wanted to, but didn't want to rush things.

Later, Charity was left clinging to a shred of hope when it looked like Ruby Miligan (Beth Cordingly) might be interested in buying her share of the pub, but Caleb (William Ash) soon turned the idea down, thinking of the backlash from the village.

At the end of the episode, Charity was terrified to find Todd holding baby Leyla in her living room. Todd asked Charity what she and Caleb were talking about on the street. When Charity explained, Todd firmly gave her a hard deadline of one week to get her money.

"Once I get my money, I'm out of here," Todd said, before confirming that Vanessa was a "port in a storm". She added: "Once I'm gone, you'll never see me again."

Todd went on: "Enough of these empty threats. We both know you're in no position to follow through... I will [destroy your life] if I have to, but I'd much rather walk away with £100k."

When Charity urged her blackmailer to get out of the house, Todd warned: "You have no idea what I'm capable of."

Now, several Emmerdale fans believe they've worked out Todd's downfall, with Vanessa possibly being the villager to force her out of the Dales. Currently, Vanessa doesn't suspect Todd of any wrongdoing, but this could soon change.

"I think there is going to be a twist and the unusual person who takes Dr Todd down will be Vanessa," one person wrote on a Facebook fan page. Another added: "Would be great if it was Vanessa, especially after Todd called her a port in the storm."

A third viewer said: "Hope you're right!" with another similarly sharing: "Once Charity tells Vanessa what Todd said about her, all hell breaks loose. Todd needs to watch out!"

Emmerdale airs weekday nights at 8pm on ITV1 and STV, while Coronation Street airs weekday nights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and STV as part of ITV's new soap power hour scheduling pattern for Coronation Street and Emmerdale
