Moodubidire: A court has rejected eight bail applications filed by a warrant accused who had allegedly absconded after evading court proceedings.
The accused, K Abdul Basheer alias Abdul Basheer, was reportedly involved in around 17 cases. He had allegedly misused the bail granted earlier, failed to appear for investigation, and absconded while deceiving the court. Despite warrants and attachment orders issued by the court, he had intentionally remained absconding for nearly four years.
Based on credible information received by V C D’Souza of Bantwal taluk, the accused was arrested on April 1 and produced before the court. The accused had filed bail applications in eight cases, which were strongly opposed by the prosecution through detailed objections.
Taking into consideration the arguments presented by Assistant Public Prosecutor Shobha S, the manner in which the accused allegedly evaded the law, his long period of absconding, his background, and the details of cases registered against him in Mangaluru and surrounding areas, Principal Civil Judge and JMFC Judge Chandraya B P rejected the bail applications after hearing the arguments.
Srilatha Prasad appeared on behalf of the government.
