Indian U18 Hockey Teams Face Tough Losses Against Australia

The Indian U18 Men's and Women's Hockey Teams encountered a tough day on Sunday, suffering defeats against their Australian counterparts during their second matches at the Udhav Das Mehta (Bhai Ji) Central SAI Centre in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.


Men's Hockey: Australia Takes 3-1 Lead

In the men's match, Australia emerged victorious with a score of 3-1, taking a 1-0 lead in the four-match series after the first game ended in a 2-2 draw. Arjun Brian scored the first goal for Australia in the 16th minute of the second quarter. India quickly equalized with a goal from Ashish Tani Purti in the 24th minute. However, Australia regained the upper hand in the third quarter, with goals from Sam Peoples (39') and Angus Mcmullen (45') sealing their win.


Women's Team Faces 1-4 Defeat

The Indian U18 Women's Team faced a disappointing 1-4 loss against Australia. Diya scored an early goal in the 11th minute, giving India a brief lead. However, Australia responded strongly, with Anneliese Cullen (26'), Giselle Thompson (31'), Aurora Kovacevich (36'), and Stella Bartholomeusz (48') scoring to secure their second consecutive victory in the series.


Looking Ahead: Upcoming Matches

The Indian U18 Women's Team aims to recover in their next match scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2026, at 7:30 PM at the International Sports Complex, Nathu Barkheda in Bhopal. Similarly, the Indian U18 Men's Team will compete in their third match against Australia on the same day at 5:00 PM at the Udhav Das Mehta (Bhai Ji) Central SAI Centre.
