The Board of Control for Cricket in India i.e. BCCI may soon take a big decision regarding the Test vice-captaincy of Rishabh Pant. According to reports, the selection committee will seriously discuss his role before the one-off Test match against Afghanistan next month. This meeting is going to be held on May 19 in Guwahati, where the Test and ODI teams will be selected. The only test match between India and Afghanistan will be played from 6 to 10 June. After this, there will be three ODI matches on 14, 17 and 20 June.

It is believed that BCCI is not completely satisfied with the captaincy of Rishabh Pant. The main reason for this is being said to be the continuous poor performance of Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League. Lucknow Super Giants finished seventh in IPL 2025, while in IPL 2026 the team is currently at the bottom of the points table. The team has achieved only four wins in 12 matches. In such a situation, questions are being raised on Pant’s captaincy.

According to reports, BCCI feels that the extra pressure of captaincy is affecting Rishabh Pant’s batting. Questions are also being raised regarding Rishabh Pant’s place in the ODI team. His performance in recent matches has not been as per expectations. He has scored only 251 runs in 11 innings. According to reports, the selectors can now give a chance to Ishan Kishan, who is in excellent form, as the second wicketkeeper. At present, KL Rahul is considered to be the first favorite wicketkeeper of the team. In the coming days, a big decision can be taken regarding Rishabh Pant’s career.
