CBSE Board Class 12 Result 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released the Class 12 results on May 13, 2026. This year, the pass percentage for students stood at 85.20%. Notably, the CBSE Class 12 answer sheets were evaluated this time using the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. Consequently, many students and their parents allege that there have been discrepancies in the results, noting that this year’s pass percentage is the lowest compared to previous years. In light of this, let us examine how the CBSE pass percentage has trended from 2019 through 2026.

Results in 2025 Were Better Than This Year

Last year—that is, in 2025—a total of 88.39 percent of students passed the examination; however, this time, the pass percentage has declined to 85.20 percent. This clearly indicates that a significant drop has been recorded in the number of successful students this year. Students and their parents have now taken to social media to express their objections regarding this matter. Some argue that the substantial decline in the pass percentage is a direct result of the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system.

Year

Pass Percentage

2025 88.39%
2024 87.98%
2023 87.33%
2022 92.71%
2021 99.37%
2020 88.78%
2019 83.40%

Prior to this, the pass percentage stood at 87.98% in 2024 and 87.33% in 2023. In the 2022 examination, held following the COVID-19 pandemic, 92.71 percent of students passed.

What were the results like in 2019?

Meanwhile, in 2021, the board examinations could not be conducted due to the pandemic. At that time, students’ results were prepared based on unit tests, pre-board exams, and mid-term examinations. In 2021, 99.37 percent of students passed. In 2020, 88.78 percent of students passed. In 2019, a total of 83.40 percent of students passed.
