Bengaluru: The release of the much-awaited pan-India film “Toxic: A Fairytale,” starring Yash, has been postponed for the second time, disappointing fans who were eagerly waiting for the film’s release on June 4. Addressing the decision in a recent interview, Yash openly explained the reasons behind the delay.

Had everything gone according to plan, discussions about the film’s OTT release would have already begun by now. However, the repeated postponement of the highly anticipated movie has left fans disappointed.

Despite the growing hype around the film following its teaser release, Yash defended the delay and said the decision was taken keeping the film’s long-term future and global reach in mind.

Yash explains the reason behind the delay

In a recent interview with Variety India, Yash shared details about why the makers decided to postpone the film’s release once again.

In April, the actor had confirmed that the movie would not release on June 4 as originally planned. Although filming and post-production work have been completed, the team is currently focusing on finalising global distribution and strategic partnerships to ensure the film reaches its full potential internationally.

Speaking about the delay, Yash said, “For now, I have decided to take some more time before releasing this film. I know this is not something my fans or the people of India would like. They will naturally feel disappointed because, in our culture, the moment a film’s shooting begins, people already start expecting a release date. Even if we do not intend it, marketing starts automatically. As soon as shooting begins, people start writing about the film.”

He further added, “In Western countries, every process begins only after the film is completely finished. If someone wants to buy the film or be part of it, they first want to watch the movie because crores of rupees are invested in such projects. These are the challenges before us. But I have complete faith in my people. I believe they will understand what we are trying to achieve and why this process is necessary.”

Tara Sutaria also reacts to delay

A few days ago, actress Tara Sutaria, who plays an important role in the film, also spoke about the delay and how she has accepted it.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, she said, “I am very patient. If a film does not release immediately, I do not question my journey. I think about the bigger canvas of the film. As an actor, you cannot think that a movie belongs only to you. It belongs to everyone who helped create it.”

The story of the film has been written by Yash and Geetu Mohandas, who is also directing the project. Along with Yash, the film stars Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Rukmini Vasanth and Tara Sutaria in key roles.

A new release date for the film is expected to be announced soon.
