For Actor Abhin , who essays Sameer in the television show Tod Kar Dil Mera , the journey to facing the camera was anything but planned. The actor, who began his career behind the lens as a director, says he got into acting by accident — and stayed for the “kick” it gave him.
On how acting found him. “Acting happened to me very naturally. I actually started my career in direction and never thought I’d become an actor. I was doing well as a director and I was really happy with it,” he recalls.
The shift came thanks to a friend’s emergency. “My first acting job was for a Punjabi episodic show that a friend of mine was casting for. He was stuck because the actor who was originally cast backed out at the last moment. He asked me to step in, and I thought he was crazy, I had never acted on camera before.”
But his friend saw something Abhin didn’t. “He convinced me. He told me that when I used to narrate scenes and demonstrate the characters to other actors, he could see that I had it in me. He believed I was good at it.”
What was meant to be a 1-2 day comic role changed everything. “The appreciation I got was overwhelming. It gave me a completely different kind of fulfillment — a real kick. That’s how acting happened to me.”
Talking about the current challenging scenario of the entertainment industry. Abhin says ,“The biggest challenge today for any creative person or person in a technical field is AI. Because of AI, the world is changing so quickly that it is not possible for any person to keep up with it. Staying real in a world that is constantly changing is very difficult. These changes are happening so fast that it does feel scary.”
Despite the pace of change, he believes actors can’t afford to freeze. “Even then, as actors, we need to keep working, improving our craft daily while also protecting our individuality and emotional honesty."
Abhin made his debut with the a Punjabi show Chhoti Jathani , and also featured in the show Bhed Bhram .
