Indian billiards champion Sourav Kothari tied the knot with Kolkata girl Pallavi Banchur on Thursday in a private temple ceremony attended by only close friends and family members. Speaking to us, Sourav revealed that he and Pallavi had been close for around three-four years, and that he felt happy that his late father and cue sports veteran Manoj Kothari had met her before he passed away in January. “He blessed us before he left us,” Sourav said, adding that he missed him during the ceremony. He added that the reception will be held soon. On the professional front, Sourav successfully defended his IBSF World Billiards Championship title in Carlow, Ireland, in April, by securing a
commanding 1133-477 points victory against multiple-time world champion Pankaj Advani in the final. His latest world title adds to an inspiring year in which he also claimed his fourth national billiards championship while coping with the loss of his father.
The IBSF World Billiards Championship carried an emotional significance for me. I dedicated the win to my father, who was also my mentor and coach– Sourav Kothari
