Mumbai: Rumours are rife that Alia Bhatt has joined the Tumbbad sequel Tumbbad 2, starring Sohum Shah. Industry sources claim the actress has been roped in for an extended cameo in the film, which recently went on floors.
An insider revealed, “Alia has joined the unit and has already shot for a couple of days for the film. She will return from Cannes and resume shooting again.” While the makers have remained tight-lipped and have not responded to queries, sources close to the project insist that the actress is indeed part of the film.
Meanwhile, Alia recently grabbed headlines for her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival as part of the L’Oréal Paris contingent. The actress faced trolling online after a video surfaced showing her waving at photographers, with some social media users claiming that no one was clicking pictures of her despite chants of “Alia, Alia” being heard in the background. Some users also commented that Cannes felt incomplete without Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Responding to the trolling, Alia quipped, “Why pity love? You noticed me…”
On the work front, the actress currently has Love & War directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Chamunda by Amar Kaushik, and Alpha directed by Shiv Rawail lined up for release. She also has her home production Don’t Be Shy gearing up for an OTT release.
