Bengaluru: Two youths allegedly assaulted an auto driver under the influence of alcohol over a minor issue in the K.R. Puram police station limits of Bengaluru.
The injured driver has been identified as Venkatesh alias Manjunath (38), a resident of K.R. Puram. The accused, identified as Dileep and Likesh, are currently absconding. Police have launched a search operation to trace them.
The incident took place on the night of May 15 in front of a college at Ayyappa Nagar.
According to police, Manjunath had parked his auto near the college around 8 pm on Friday when the accused, who were allegedly drunk, entered the vehicle and asked him to take them to a location.
As the youths were intoxicated, the auto driver refused to go. Angered by this, the accused allegedly attacked him using a wooden stick and a screwdriver that was inside the auto.
The injured driver is undergoing treatment at a hospital. Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
