Delhi: In the 60th match of IPL 2026, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by 29 runs. Batting first, Kolkata had set a target of 248 runs for Gujarat thanks to half-centuries from Finn Allen, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green. In reply, for Gujarat, captain Shubman Gill scored 87 runs, Jos Buttler scored 57 runs and Sai Sudarshan scored 53 runs. But he failed to make the team win the match. With this win, Kolkata still remains in the race for the playoffs.
Stormy innings of Allen-Raghuvanshi and Green
Thanks to the stormy half-century innings of Finn Allen, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green, Kolkata Knight Riders had given the target of 248 runs to Gujarat Titans. Allen played an inning of 93 runs in 35 balls. He hit 4 fours and 10 sixes in his innings. Raghuvanshi scored unbeaten 82 runs in 44 balls. Raghuvanshi hit 4 fours and 7 sixes. Green scored 52 runs in 28 balls. Green hit 3 fours and 4 sixes in his innings. Due to which KKR scored 247 runs after losing two wickets in 20 overs. From Gujarat side, Mohammad Siraj and Sai Kishore got one success each.
Gill-Buttler’s innings went in vain, first defeat after 5 consecutive wins
Gujarat had a great start in chasing the target. Captain Shubhman Gill and Sai Sudarshan started scoring runs rapidly. Together they added 42 runs in 18 balls. After this, Sudarshan retired due to minor injury. After Sudarshan was out, Nishant Sindhu came to bat. But he was out after scoring only one run.
After this, Gill batted brilliantly with Jos Buttler. Gill, along with Butler, added 128 runs in 73 balls for the second wicket. Gill scored 85 runs in 49 balls with the help of 5 fours and seven sixes. Butler scored 57 runs in 35 balls. Butler hit 5 fours and two sixes in his innings. Sai Sudarshan, who returned after retirement, also scored a half-century.
Sudarshan scored unbeaten 53 runs in 28 balls. But despite the brilliant performance of these three players, Gujarat could score only 218 runs by losing four wickets in 20 overs and lost the match by 29 runs. For KKR, Sunil Narine took two wickets for just 29 runs. Narine was chosen player of the match for his excellent bowling. This is Gujarat’s first defeat after 5 consecutive wins. This is KKR’s 5th win this season. KKR’s playoff hopes are still intact.
