Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy criticized the Central government on Saturday for its recent increase of Rs 3 per liter in petrol and diesel prices, condemning the decision as “incompetent governance” and calling for an immediate rollback of the revised rates.
In a detailed post on He warned that the increase would have a cascading effect across multiple sectors, raising the cost of essential commodities and further straining household finances.
Reddy questioned the rationale behind the price revision and accused the government of breaking public trust by promising “no increase in petroleum product prices” prior to elections, only to raise prices shortly after the results. He alleged that such assurances were made solely for electoral gain.
He demanded the government justify the move, especially given India’s claim to be the world’s third-largest economy, and called for petrol and diesel prices to be restored to their previous levels.
“The Central Government under Narendra Modi’s leadership has recently taken the decision to increase petrol and diesel prices, which is in no way justifiable. This decision will have a negative impact on numerous sectors. The prices of daily essentials will rise, placing an additional burden on the common people. Due to the Modi government’s incompetent governance and ill-conceived policies, the country’s economy has been shattered,” Reddy stated in his post.
