A startling development has emerged in the NEET-UG 2026 exam paper leak case. The CBI has made significant progress in this major scandal, apprehending a biology lecturer from Pune on Saturday. What is particularly shocking is that this accused individual was part of a crucial committee at the National Testing Agency responsible for preparing the exam question paper.
Who is the New Mastermind?
The mastermind behind this scheme has been identified as Manisha Mandhare, a professor of Botany at the renowned Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce in Pune. According to sources associated with the institution, Manisha has been working with the NTA as an expert for the past 5-6 years. She had also contributed to the preparation of Botany and Zoology questions for the NEET exam held on May 3 this year.
Selling the Exam Paper for Millions
According to claims made by the investigative agency, Professor Mandhare had complete access to the Botany and Zoology questions due to her involvement in the paper-setting team. Exploiting this advantage, she conducted secret coaching classes in Pune in April 2026, inviting select candidates. During these clandestine sessions, Mandhare dictated the leaked questions and their answers to the students, charging them hefty fees in return. When the exam took place on May 3, the exact same questions appeared on the paper.
Unveiling the Truth During Interrogation
The CBI revealed that they had arrested the alleged mastermind of the case, retired Chemistry professor PV Kulkarni. It was through extensive questioning of Kulkarni and other arrested individuals that the role of Manisha Mandhare was uncovered.
