Gandhinagar: A shocking incident has come to light from Morbi in Gujarat, where a tenant allegedly entered into an agreement allowing his landlord access to his wife and minor daughter in lieu of unpaid rent, police said.
According to police, the family from Surendranagar had shifted to Morbi around six months ago and was living in a rented house with a monthly rent of Rs 2,000. However, due to financial hardship, they reportedly failed to pay rent for four months.
In a disturbing turn of events, the tenant allegedly agreed to settle the pending rent by permitting exploitation of his wife and minor daughter by the landlord.
The matter came to light after the tenant’s mother-in-law learned about the incident and filed a complaint at the Morbi police station. Police have registered a case under relevant provisions, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Both the landlord and the tenant have been arrested, officials said. Police also stated that the father of the minor girl and the landlord were involved in orchestrating the abuse. A third accused is currently absconding and is being traced.
