Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated Ali Falih Kazim al-Zaidi on assuming charge as the Prime Minister of Iraq and said India greatly values its long-standing and friendly relations with Iraq and is strongly committed to further strengthening bilateral relations.
Businessman al-Zaidi emerged as the candidate for the post of prime minister, following weeks of internal discussions among member parties of the coordination framework aimed at selecting a consensus candidate to lead the next government in Iraq.
Prime Minister Modi said in a post on ‘X’, “Hearty congratulations to Ali Falih Kazim al-Zaidi on assuming charge as the Prime Minister of Iraq. India attaches great importance to its long-standing and friendly relations with Iraq and is determined to further strengthen our bilateral relations in all areas.” Modi said, ”I wish him all the best and look forward to working together for the common progress and prosperity of our two countries.
