Although Jahnvi Kapoor’s career has been gradually growing with her having fans and supporters, Khushi Kapoor’s Bollywood career is still an uphill battle. Her few films were critically thrashed, and she got a lot of backlashes for works like The Archies, and Naadaaniyan.

Jahnvi, on the other hand, worked on Sunny Sanskari ki Tulsi Kumari, which did comparatively well. Her next project will be Ram Charan’s Peddi. However, both sisters were auditioning for the same role.

In an interview with B9, the director for Peddi, Buchi Babu Sana, talked about offering the role of Achiyamma to Khushi Kapoor before Jahnvi Kapoor got it instead. He had pictured her as the face of the role and had even narrated the story to her. However, because she was too young, he decided to change his mind.

“I initially narrated the film to Khushi Kapoor. But once I saw her in person, I realised that she’s too young for this character. Now, imagine when I have to reject Khushi and give narration to Janhvi in the same home. I felt bad and asked Janhvi if Khushi didn’t take offence.”

He continued, “I explained why I rejected her sister. I looked at Khushi, told her ‘hi, and said, I don’t want you in the film, I want your sister.’ But such things need to be done for cinema. From the beginning, I just knew this role would suit Janhvi. Even as I narrated it to others, I would imagine her in the role.”

The next best option would be Jahnvi Kapoor, who would have the same facial features as Khushi Kapoor, but she was much older, and it would also be appropriate for her to star alongside an actor like Ram Charan, who is 41. He felt so bad though, that he ended up reaffirming if Khushi felt bad about being rejected and replaced by her own sister.

Peddi will be released on June 4 and stars Ram Charan in the titular role alongside Jahnvi Kapoor as Achiyamma, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu and Divyenndu. It is a sports drama and is set in 1980s Andhra Pradesh.
